Any Party may propose a site or monument of recognised historic value for listing as a Historic Site or Monument. Historic Sites or Monuments may lie within an Antarctic Specially Managed Area (ASMA) or Antarctic Specially Protected Area (ASPA) and are, where possible, noted on maps and in other relevant publications, along with any prohibitions or restrictions applying to the site or monument. Listed Historic Sites and Monuments are not to be damaged, removed or destroyed, in accordance with Annex V (Area Protection and Management) to the Protocol on Environment Protection (Madrid Protocol).
